Scenic Technology

The mission of the MFA Program in Scenic Technology is to train Technical Directors to lead our art in the 21st century. We provide a strong theoretical background and sound production experiences in a state-of-the-art facility, The Krannert Center for the Performing Arts. We give the students exposure to current materials, methods, and techniques in technology, engineering, computers, and management. Furthermore, students will participate in research and development of innovative production techniques including the integration of advanced technologies into theatrical production. Through the advising process, an individual training program is developed that suits the educational goals of the Technology student. The primary coursework provides a solid core that is required of all students, while the Directed Studies provide the flexibility for individual specialization. Whatever type of position you are interested in, this program can prepare and support you in achieving that goal: Regional Theatre TD, Commercial Scene Shop/Production Company, Theatre Equipment supplier or manufacturer, Academic TD, Production Manager, or Theatre Consultant.
