Graduate Admission in Theatre
Applicants must first make online application through the University’s graduate application web site:

http://www.oar.uiuc.edu/prospective/grad/applygr.html

Applicants must indicate the specific degree and, in the case of the MFA, the particular area of specialization they plan to study (costume design, costume technology and management, lighting design, scenic design, sound design, stage management, or theatre technology). In addition, all applicants must pay a processing fee and supply the following materials:

1. Official transcripts of all previous college work.

2. Three letters of recommendation, preferably from instructors of the applicant’s theatre and drama classes (sent separately by the letter writers.)

3. A statement of professional intentions.

4. A resume of activities in theatrical production.

5. Foreign students must also submit recent official scores of the TOEFL Internet-based Test (iBT). Information on this test is at www.ets.org/toefl. Applicants should also submit financial certification statements.

MASTER OF FINE ARTS IN ACTING
The MFA Acting Program accepts students only every three years. The Department is currently accepting applications for entrance in the Fall of 2009.

Auditions may be presented at the Krannert Center on the Urbana- Champaign campus or at one of the University/Resident Theatre Association (U/RTA) Unified Auditions (for information, contact U/RTA at www.URTA.com or URTA@aol.com). Separate auditions in Chicago, New York City, or San Francisco may also be arranged. Please call the Department of Theatre at 217-244-6189 to schedule a specific appointment in one of those cities.

Your audition must be held by March 31, 2008. Deadline for receipt of all application materials is March 31, 2008. Application materials include your application, application fee, transcripts, reference letters, statement of intent, part 2 of the application, and resume.

MASTER OF FINE ARTS IN DESIGN, TECHNOLOGY, AND MANAGEMENT
Applicants for the Division of Design, Technology, and Management should schedule a portfolio review at the Krannert Center on the Urbana-Champaign campus or at one of the University/Resident Theatre Association (U/RTA) Unified Auditions (for information, contact U/RTA at www.URTA.com or URTA@aol.com). Your interview must be held by February 25, 2008. The deadline for receipt of all application materials is March 31, 2008. Application materials include your application,
application fee, transcripts, reference letters, statement of intent, and resume, as described above.

MASTER OF ARTS IN THEATRE HISTORY and DOCTOR OF PHILOSOPHY IN THEATRE HISTORY
Applicants for the MA and PhD must also submit GRE scores and two samples of original scholarly essays on theatre, and are encouraged, but not required, to schedule an interview. Deadline for receipt of applications is January 15.
